Repair of doors finished with veneer.

Unfortunately, for various reasons, your doors, finished with an expensive wood veneer, can be damaged.
Manufacturers do not recommend trying to fix complex damage yourself, in everyday life we can fix the door only if the damage is minor.
Minor damage to doors finished with natural veneer includes chipped varnish from impact and scratches.

If the scratch on the door is not deep enough (it does not reach the wood), the surface can be restored in one of the following ways::
1. Try to rub the wax polish on several times, repeating this operation until the surface of the scratch is equal to the surface of the varnish.
2. The second method. Use a special "repair varnish spray". It is very easy to use when fixing the door. The rules for its use are described on the packaging of the cylinder. The method is simpler than grout with a polish, but has one drawback: this varnish is not sold in ordinary stores selling household paint materials. In order to buy such a varnish, contact the dealer who provided you with the door..

Sometimes it happens that the scratches are deeper and because of the damage, the base on which the veneer is glued becomes visible. In this case, the problem is also fixable. In order to eliminate such a scratch, you need to buy a special solid colored wax pencil. Choose the pencil that best matches the color of the wood on your door. Then melt the pencil and rub the existing scratch so that the excess wax protrudes slightly to the surface. When the wax hardens, its excess is carefully removed with a blade so that the surface of the varnish becomes smooth again.
After that, sand the repaired area with sandpaper No. 400 and cover it with repair varnish.
At the last stage, it is very important to take into account one important point. You can only cover the repaired area with a special repair varnish. Only such a varnish will hold, the usual ones will crumble in a couple of months.

Repair of doors finished with artificial veneer.
Artificial veneer is significantly inferior in quality to natural and gives less opportunities to repair a damaged door. However, something can also be done.
Artificial veneer is a thick paper, on the surface of which there is a pattern that imitates the texture of wood. This paper is impregnated with melamine resins, which increase the strength of the coating.

If you want to get rid of a lot of small scratches that have appeared on your door during its operation, you can do it with the same polish. The polish is tinted to match the color of your door. As a dye, you can use ordinary watercolors.

But deep scratches and chips from the impact can not be completely hidden. But you can try to make such scratches smaller and more inconspicuous.
For this, too, a polish is used, but it takes a little longer to erase the scratches.
